A Home for Love and Hopes

Kuala Lumpur, 28th October 2015 – The Budimas Charitable Foundation launched its new home, Pusat Jagaan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Budimas Orion (Budimas Orion) in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan. A home built for the underprivileged children and ready to open its doors for 150 children.

Budimas Orion started its construction since September 2012. It is the brainchild and was designed by Y.M. Tunku Dato’ Yaacob Khyra, Chairman of the The Budimas Charitable Foundation. The land was donated by an anonymous donor. The home stands at three storeys high and it is completed with basic facilities and daily needs including the dining area, study room, computer labs, double-decker beds and a field for outdoor activities. Presently there are 28 children in this home under Budimas’s care and the foundation aims to support another 122 children.

Aside from the Budimas Orion, Budimas has extended its helping hand to other 19 charitable homes. There are in total 1101 children under Budimas Home Charity Fund (BHCF), one of the 3 funds by The Budimas Charitable Foundation. The charitable homes are located in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Kedah, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Johor, Pahang, Sabah, Sarawak and Malacca.

Besides that, Budimas also initiated the Budimas Food Charity Fund (BFCF), which is now running in its sixth year operation. A total amount of 4,892 students in 89 schools are sponsored with daily nutritious breakfast by Budimas. The schools are mainly from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Melacca, Penang and Kedah.

Budimas also constructed and equiped children’s libraries for rural and poor, particularly the Orang Asli communities under the Budimas Education Charity Fund (BECF). Budimas built its first library in Kg. Bukit Kepong, Port Dickson and started its operation on 15th February 2015. There are 7 more libraries set up and will commence operation in November/December 2015. Each library are equipped with 4,000 books and now the Orang Asli children are able to read and revise with the reading materials provided. In 2016, the foundation aims to build and operates 4 more libraries in Orang Asli Settlement in Selangor.

We believe that with the support of the Budimas 3 charity funds including Budimas Home Charity Fund, Budimas Food Charity Fund and Budimas Education Charity Fund, our children will grow healthy and this will be a game changer in their future.” she continued. “We would also like to thank our donors, partners and volunteers for their generosity and the continuous support to the foundation in these 17 years.”

The Budimas Orion Home Launch was officiated by Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan, the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tunku Dato’ Yaacob Khyra, Chairman of The Budimas Charitable Foundation and the board of trustees of The Budimas Charitable Foundation. The event was held at The Budimas Orion Home on the 20th October 2015.
