{"id":400,"date":"2021-02-07T16:01:42","date_gmt":"2021-02-07T16:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/budimas.org\/testing\/?p=400"},"modified":"2021-03-11T01:25:20","modified_gmt":"2021-03-11T01:25:20","slug":"budimas-lights-up-childrens-lives-this-deepavali","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/budimas.org\/testing\/budimas-lights-up-childrens-lives-this-deepavali\/","title":{"rendered":"Budimas Lights Up Children\u2019s Lives This Deepavali"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Kuala Lumpur, 8<sup>th\u00a0<\/sup>November 2016<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Still in the spirit of Deepavali,\u00a0The Budimas Charitable Foundation organised a Deepavali merriment for over\u00a0165 orphans and underprivileged children aged from 3 to 18 years old along with their caretakers from 5 charitable homes\u00a0that took place in Pusat Komuniti Bukit Bandaraya, Bangsar. The homes that attended were\u00a0<em>Pusat Jagaan Siddhartan, Pusat Jagaan Anak-anak Yatim Sai Pandian, Rumah Kebajikan Anbu Illam, Pusat Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Kajang<\/em><em>\u00a0and Pusat Jagaan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Budimas Orion.<\/em>\u00a0The event was officiated by Ms Anne Rajasaikaran, Principal Officer of The Budimas Charitable Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>As Deepavali is the festival of lights, the event began by the lighting of the customary Indian broze oil lamp called\u00a0<em>\u201cKuttu Valaikku\u201d,<\/em>\u00a0by the trustees of the foundation. It was then followed by a dance performance and a musical number by the children of\u00a0<em>Pusat Jagaan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Budimas Orion<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The colourfully decked out children from all 5 homes then took part in the \u201c<em>Agal Vilaku\u00a0<\/em>(Earth Lamp) Decoration Competition\u201d where the most creative and beautifully decorated piece won the competition. Light has always played a key role in Indian culture; for generations, Indians have used light to celebrate religious events.
